A special Leap Year fanfiction challenge, created by
autistic-lesamis! Each day has one or two genres to write in. This includes formatting like poems and 5+1, popular AUs like Soulmates and Coffee Shop, and your traditional fluff/angst/feels of course. They can be any length for the most part (drabble or three sentence fic is one of the days), any fandom, the only requirement is that they fit the genre (or one of the genres) of the day.
The list is under the cut, with descriptions of the genre itself.
1. Fluff: Make your audience go “d'awwwww….”
2. Fix-It Fic or Canon Divergence: Two ways to change that one thing that bothers you the most about canon.
3. Patchwork: Create an ensemble cast all from different adaptations.
4. Academic AU: High School, College, Teachers, Professors, etc.
5. Continuation or Missing Scene: Add to the ending or the middle.
6. Poem or Song Fic: Write a fic in the form of a poem or fit the plot to the lyrics of something already written.
7. Angst: Put your characters through the ringer.
8. Backstory: Make up something we don’t know to fill in the gaps.
9. Next Gen: What happens to the people who come after?
10. Coffee Shop AU: Do they work there? Did they meet there? Do they have a dream of owning their own? Up to you.
11. Elsewhere: Tell us what some extras were doing during important moments in canon.
12. Log Fic: Captain’s logs, chatrooms, texts…. Give us the deets!
13. Hurt/Comfort or Hurt No Comfort: Exactly what it says on the tin.
14. Peggy Sue or Groundhog Day: Have them do it all over again, either once or again and again and again.
15. Fusion or Crossover: You know when you were a kids mashing toys together, making them kiss or fight? That but with fandoms. In a Crossover, characters from both worlds live in the same one. In a Fusion, characters from one world live in the other and do not interact with characters from that world’s original canon.
16. Soulmate AU: Names, timers, tattoos, bonds… Whatever it is, everyone or almost everyone has a soul mate and a way to find them.
17. Feels: Make your audience cry with emotion. Any emotion.
18. De-Aging or Reverse De-aging: When adult characters are turned into kids or child characters are turned into grown ups.
19. Drabble or Three Sentence Fic: A fic of exactly 100 words or exactly 3 sentences - no more, no less. It’s harder than you think.
20. Anthropomorfic or Mythological AU: Are they werecreatures or just humans with creature-like features?
21. Superpowers AU or Hogwarts AU: Gryffindor? Ravenclaw? Hufflepuff? Avenger?
22. Romance or PWP: Make it steamy or not, it’s up to you.
23. Amnesia Fic: Someone’s missing some memories.
24. Crack Fic: Imagine silly string but it’s a story - hilarious but serves no real purpose.
25. Rule 63 or Body Swap: Genderbend or Freaky Friday? Or both…?
26. 5+1 Things: Five times I wrote this description and one time I actually liked it
.27. Pregnancy or Kid Fic: Either they have kids that they don’t in canon or they soon will.
28. Mystery or Horror: Or a mystery horror…?
+1. AU of Your Choice: There are plenty on the list, but way more out there. Go write one!
