Oh boy, I get to talk about Rex Talbot, my love and only canon queer character in the series (so, naturally, he dies ;__; I do not recommend watching the show just for him, because he’s in exactly one (1) episode and dies offscreen in it.)
1. How I feel about this character All the feelings! I love him so much, because he’s so sad and I just want him to be happy and alive. He’s up there with Foyle as my top favorite characters from this show. He’s so tragic, which means I just want to write him as happy in all ways.
2. All the people I ship romantically and/or sexually with this character Both the Foyles. Andrew because that’s who Rex is canonically in love with, and Christopher because this fic made me ship it hard. https://archiveofourown.org/works/187357
3. Favorite gen relationship(s) for this character Papa Foyle, mostly, although somehow I think Rex and Sam would get along by way of Andrew (possibly by lovingly teasing him mercilessly).
4. My unpopular opinion about this character More unpopular opinion about the author, but Horowitz, who create the show, and I believe wrote that episode, never does right by queer characters, so boo!
5. One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon. That somehow he’d survived and came back as a POW in the final days of the war to reconnect with Andrew.
6. Random pet theory about this character that you won't convince me is not true. Literature. So, Andrew’s focus in uni was maths but I will go down fighting for Rex to have his focus in literature, especially focused on male relationships (friendships, forbidden romances, etc.) as he basically figured himself out.
7. A song or piece of music I associate with this character. Rough Boys by Pete Townshend is my go to Rex/Andrew song, and I even have a playlist for them that I should really add to on Spotify (it’s currently on Amazon Music, but, like, I don’t know how to share from there).
