Grrr, let me tell you--!!
Actually, I'm pretty OK with critique when it's asked for. But if someone gives it and I did not specifically ask for critique, I am, how you say?, like a crocodile, very quick to bite someone's head off.
When I do ask for and receive critique, I'm good about taking it in stride. I look for what's helpful, and whether the critique is, 1) given in good faith, and 2) understanding of what I'm doing. For example, I remember critique from a teacher about a woman-led story where he insisted the one guy of the plot needed to be the hero, because it would "redeem him" or something. Like, no, that's not what I'm going to do, but thanks for playing.
I don't get critique much, mostly because for fanfics, I don't seek it out unless I'm *really* stuck on something. I do tend to ask for original work, though, but even that's mostly because I only have the one writing group where we do critique, lol.
