Definitely past tense. I can finagle present tense in a pinch, but I naturally default to past. I realize it's probably because I write the way I tell stories, which typically is past tense.
I once did an entire 10,000 word big bang in present and let me tell you, I'd be happily writing and suddenly realize I'd switched to past somewhere and go SONOVA!!, then grumble as I go back to figure out where I switched to fix it.
Thank you for the question!

Found family is a big thing I love writing, but mostly my themes are love and betrayal. I do heartbreak very well, but it's always with hope at the end. I sometimes write good revenge (I am all about revenge, IRL Hamlet here) but basically everything has to end with some level of happiness, or at least, balance restored (on the side of good, natch).
Thanks for asking!

Grrr, let me tell you--!!
Actually, I'm pretty OK with critique when it's asked for. But if someone gives it and I did not specifically ask for critique, I am, how you say?, like a crocodile, very quick to bite someone's head off.
When I do ask for and receive critique, I'm good about taking it in stride. I look for what's helpful, and whether the critique is, 1) given in good faith, and 2) understanding of what I'm doing. For example, I remember critique from a teacher about a woman-led story where he insisted the one guy of the plot needed to be the hero, because it would "redeem him" or something. Like, no, that's not what I'm going to do, but thanks for playing.
I don't get critique much, mostly because for fanfics, I don't seek it out unless I'm *really* stuck on something. I do tend to ask for original work, though, but even that's mostly because I only have the one writing group where we do critique, lol.
Thank you for the question! I...didn't know I had such feelings about this, lol.
